About the Observer

The Observer is Tufts’ oldest student organization, and has been Tufts’ weekly publication of record since 1895. Our dedication to in-depth reporting, journalistic innovation, and honest dialogue has remained intact for over a century. Today, we offer insightful news analysis, cogent and diverse opinion pieces, and lively reviews of current arts, entertainment, and sports. Through poignant writing and artistic elegance, we aim to entertain, inform, and above all challenge the Tufts community to effect positive change.

Join the Observer

The Observer is always looking for new talent—no experience necessary! Our small, tight-knit staff includes students interested in writing, editing, photography, fine art, graphic design, and web design. Most of the work happens on Monday and Tuesday nights in our office in Curtis Hall (next to Brown and Brew). For more information about the Observer’s history and what we do, check out the 2007 Welcome Guide. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, or to schedule a time to visit and meet the staff, email observer@tufts.edu.
